Rainey Mortuary Service regretfully announce the demise of Mrs. Annie Young of Macon, GA. Mrs. Annie Young traded time for eternity on December 1, 2018 in Tuscaloosa, AL at the age of 81. She was born in Macon, Georgia on March 22, 1937 to the late Rev. Richard Collins and Lucy Mae Crawford Collins.
Mrs. Young attended Ada J. Banks, G. W. Carver, and Ballard—Hudson High Schools. She was employed as an elevator operator at the Brown Hotel, childcare worker at Mrs. Cheek’s Nursery, held several domestic positions, and retired after 31 years as Head Cook in the lunchroom at Alexander III, Central High (Lanier-A), and Weaver Middle Schools. During retirement she cared for her grandchildren and neighborhood children for many years.
Mrs. Young is predeceased by her daughter Lucy Marie Young. She is survived by her children: Frederick Jones, Thomas M. (Josephine) Jones, Kenneth Jones, Daniel Young, Jr. of Macon and Cheryl (Willie) Johnson of Tuscaloosa, AL; four grandchildren: Crystal (Noah) Hodges, Daniel Young, III, Bryant D. Shelton, Jr. and Tia Simone Shelton of Macon; Great-Grandson Daniel Brendan Young; God-Sister: Gloria Brooks of Macon; Ross Temple Baptist Church Family and many devoted relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 8, 2018, at Ross Temple Baptist Church, 1401 Berkner Ave. Macon, GA 31204.
The family will greet friends the day of the service from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., at the church. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. James H. Hall officiating.
